Open Soil Nutrient Datasets – Ukraine
Siora provides free, satellite-derived soil nutrient maps for Ukraine to support research, precision agriculture, and open environmental data access. These datasets include five key soil parameters — nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K), organic carbon (OC), and pH — for the years 2000, 2010, and 2020.
The maps are generated using multispectral satellite imagery combined with topographic, climate, geological, and weather datasets to estimate nutrient concentrations without physical soil sampling. Each nutrient map is available in GeoTIFF format for GIS analysis, along with a PNG heatmap preview and thumbnail for quick viewing.
The datasets are released under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC-BY 4.0) license, allowing free use, redistribution, and adaptation with proper attribution.
Method Summary
These datasets are produced using Siora’s calibrated spectral analysis workflow. Multispectral satellite images are corrected for atmospheric conditions and terrain effects. Auxiliary datasets — including topography, climate normals, geological layers, and soil texture — are used to reduce noise and improve prediction accuracy.
The processed spectral data is then compared against nutrient-specific spectral signatures to estimate concentrations in each pixel.
This method allows repeatable, scalable nutrient mapping without physical soil sampling, enabling temporal comparisons and large-area soil monitoring.
